Airport

Amsterdam Airport Schipol is the main airport in Netherlands. As a major stop-over point in Europe and consisting of an underground railway system, it is no wonder that Schipol is one of the busiest airports in Europe.

Getting to the city centre from Schipol
Getting to the Amsterdam City Center from Schipol is easy. Grab your baggage and then head off to catch the train. Follow the signs until you reach the Schipol Plaza. How do you spot the train ticket offices? Look for the huge red-and-white checkered box. The ticket offices are right next to it.

Alternately, if you want to avoid the queue, you can purchase them from ticket machines in the same vicinity. In this case, be sure to have some cash on hand (you can always withdraw from ATM in airport or stop by a foreign exchange point at the airport for some Euros).

Buy your ticket and then double check your platform number (spoor nummer). Where are the platforms? There will be escalators leading down to the lower floor, where each one will have a number over it. Go down the escalator which flashes your number and there you are, on the platform ready to board the train to Amsterdam City Center.

Prices
A one-way ticket from Schipol to Amsterdam Center should cost just under Euro 5. You could also opt for the Amsterdam All in 1 Ticket which includes a return ticket from Schipol as well as a 24 hour unlimited travel option. This type of ticket is only available in Summer (July-Aug) and can only be bought from the Holland Tourist Information desk in Schipol. The unlimited travel option is also available as 48/72/96 hour tickets and prices range from Euro 13-23.

If you would like more information, check out the Schipol website.
